Kitui the son of Mawingu has been source of attraction The latest addition to this elite group of young is a calf named Kitui. He is the son of Mawingu, a blind, wild female resident on the conservancy. From the day of his birth in mid-April, Kitui was under 24 hour guard by armed rangers so that he was able to stay with Mawingu for long enough to benefit from her colostrum and milk. He was then removed into the care of the specialised ranger team, joining three older black rhino calves – Nicky, Hope and Kilifi (who is another son of Mawingu).
