It was rock and roll on Saturday June 25 when The BLAZE Safaricom way, made its grand entrance into Kitui County entertainment scene. It all went down at Kitui Multipurpose Hall where young revelers were treated to a showdown of dance and fashion.
The night was full of glamour and talent as young chaps showcased their skills in modelling, music and dance.
Those who dared to be their own boss as this was the theme of the night, and impressed the judges were lucky to go home with loaded pockets, as the rest enjoyed fun times of music and merrymaking watching catwalks and music renditions from their comrades.
The best catwalk talent both male and female went to Kitui Teachers Training College Miss Emmaculate Odhiambo and Mr. J. Malombe they were the queen and king of the night after being crowned the Mr & Miss Blaze Kitui Edition.
Music talents did not miss the chance too, as a very talented little known rapper Danzel from Kitui Medical Training College blew away the hearts of many as he showed his prowess in free style rhyme on stage.
The young lad was lucky secure a recording deal from the Safaricom Regional Manager Mr. James Musyoka who promised to have the dude realize his dreams by sponsoring his first ever recorded music.
It was indeed a night packed with goodies from the Safaricom Crew as the winners carried home fat cheques and trophies.
Speaking to the young crowd pulled from across colleges around Kitui town, the Safaricom Blaze Team Leader, Mr. Earnest Makau said Safaricom Ltd has a for long not focused on the young generation and thus The BLAZE was a product developed specifically for the young digitally savvy generation of ages between 10 to 26 years.

The Safaricom Regional Manager who challenged the young crowd to pursue their dreams, said Safaricom was planning more forums to engage the young people, through mentorship summits and sponsoring talent shows to help the young realize their dream as BLAZE is a platform to help the youth be in control of their finances and help them succeed in their specific fields.
