The Kitui East Member of Parliament Marcus Muluvi got locked in a fierce public spat with the incumbent Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe after the former criticized the current county government saying its performance was dismal and thus Malombe stands no chance for re-election.
Governor Malombe on the other hand told off the MP assuring him to expect a disappointing defeat for backing up the wrong candidate. “The age mates of the person you are selling to the electorate are retiring. He too should retire.” Malombe told off the MP.
Governor Malombe expressed confidence saying the Kitui people are wise and will reward him by re-electing him for his good work and equitable development across the county.
Muluvi had said Malombe is being taken for a ride by Members of County Assembly who lie to him that he is popular and will be re-elected. “In my area, unless he opens the Kilonzo Dispensary and hires medics, he will not be voted back,” he insisted.
The MP is said to be campaigning for Senator David Musila, who has expressed interest to run for governorship in 2017.
Both Governor Julius Malombe and the MP were addressing the public on Thursday June 30 at rally attended by the Governor Malombe, former Chief Justice Willy Mutunga and retired Chief of the General Staff Julius Karangi at Kilonzo Primary School in his constituency.
They were attending commissing a water project at Mwihaki, Kitui East which was partly supported by the county government of Kitui.
