“Senator Mutula Jr and Kibwezi West MP Patrick Musimba plotted my impeachment at a meeting in Mombasa then planned a rally where they were to announce that I had been sent home,” Makueni governor Kibutha Kibwana has said.
“The subsequent meeting attended by all area leaders at Wote Town aborted after gun drama at the assembly premises where my security officer was shot at.”
The Governor said the shooting was “part of a plan to finish me” but that he survived the assassination by God’s grace.
“They shot at us like birds… I would not be alive today. Some police officers guarding the assembly premises later told me the shooting was aimed at killing us,” he said.
Kivutha Kibwana has pointed a finger at Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jr, a year after a commission finished looking into wrangles that rocked Makueni County.
Governor Kibwana accused Mutula and Musimba of plotting his impeachment, which is believed to have led to the assembly gun drama.
He spoke at Emali town in Kibwezi West on Friday after flagging off the construction of a modern bus park.
