Teachers Service Commission Chairperson Lydia Nzomo is visiting Kitui county today in an education day held at one of the country’s biggest day school, Yumbisye in Katulani Sub-county.
This comes at a time when the education sector is experiencing one of the most trying moments countrywide with over hundred schools burned down recently.
The rising trend is worrying as no proper measure has been taken to assure a possible settlement of scores in the sector presently.
Deputy President William Ruto yesterday cleared the doubts of a possible closure when he asserted that no school would be closed down following the ongoing arson menace.
Education CS Dr Fred Matiang’i held the same grounds on the matter despite the undying pressure from the opposition to close down schools and scale down the tension among students.
The burning of schools has had a direct negative impact on the education system.
