Insiders in Cord have revealed that the cord coalition is in talks with the Amani Coalition Congress Musalia Mudavadi in an effort to ensure cord settles on the most suitable team to send Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto home next year.
“We are engaged in talks, but we are not going to unveil our candidate now. We will not do it before December, and when we finally do it, it will be a bang. The ship we are building is huge and will definitely form the next government,” said ODM Chair John Mbadi as quoted by The Standard.
Mudavadi has already indicated his willingness to join Cord and become their flag bearer although he is facing strong resistance from Wetangula who argues that Mudavadi cannot be the candidate since he is not a principal in the coalition.
The game plan is to have Mudavadi run as the presidential candidate so that the Western block will go to CORD while Kalonzo who will be his running mate will bring the Eastern and a sizable number of votes from coastal region.
