Governor Dr. Julius Malombe’s tour of Development projects in Zombe/ Mwitika Ward was a huge success. Hosted by area MCA Hon. Eunice Katheke and accompanied by close to a dozen other Honourable Members of the Kitui County Assembly, the governor met and addressed enthusiastic and excited beneficiaries of various development projects in the ward.
Kicking off the tour at Kawea Youth polytechnic where the County Govt has constructed and equipped a multi million workshop with different tools for training of youths on various vocational training programs, Dr. Malombe urged residents to “own” and utilize the various life changing projects implemented in their ward.
The tour proceeded to Kaumu where the County Government is constructing and equipping a full modern hospital with both an in-patient and out-patient units which when complete will bring health services closer to an estimated 8000 residents of the ward and its neighbour wards of Endau / Malalani and Mutito. Already construction of the facility’s maternal wing, theater and pharmacy is complete with the next phase which will see the construction of an out-patient wing, a kitchen and the installation of a generator for full time provision of power in the facility done commencing later this month.
Thereafter the County boss visited Mwitika Resource Center whose construction is ongoing but when complete will serve an estimated 2000 residents providing ample grounds for meetings and celebrations of various events among them official County and National Government functions.
Flagged down by excited crowds at Ndundumini where the County Government has sunk a high yielding borehole and piped the water to an elevated tank, Dr. Malombe was treated to a rare act of gratitude as beneficiaries recounted how they used to walk long distances in search of water for both domestic and livestock consumption which has since become history.
Addressing them, the development conscious leader pledged to escalate the construction and provision of water sources i.e. earth dams, boreholes, shallow wells, sand dams and water tanks in the arid and water thirst Kitui East sub-county so as to help end long standing water scarcity in the region which past leaderships have ignored.
Dr. Malombe wound up his tour at Makongo primary school where he addressed hundreds of jubilant residents who by show of their hands acknowledged the good work the County Government under the leadership of governor Dr. Julius Malombe has done in only three (3) financial years.
