Jackline Mwende had her life suddenly taking a different turn after her husband allegedly attacked her while at her house in Machakos, beat her and chopped off both of her hands leaving her for dead minutes before her neighbours saved her life.
Mwende’s misfortunes seem to have turned into a blessing immediately the news spread, well-wishers and non-governmental organizations trooped to her father’s home condemning the act; they came out in large numbers to comfort the young lady.
After the unfortunate event came to the fore, the Machakos government offered to give Mwende a monthly stipend of Kshs. 30,000 while LG Company- Kenya promised to airlift Mwende for special treatment in Korea where she has spent 10 days undergoing treatment.
Mwende, who had lived in a childless marriage for seven years, now says she has forgiven her husband who battered her for never bearing children while the doctor had indicated that he was the one with fertility problems.
Mwende was flown back to Kenya yesterday Sunday. She could not hide her smile after getting fresh limbs and a new lease of life. She underwent a successful operation in South Korea where she has been fitted with prosthetic limbs (see photo).
