Boda boda operators in Makueni are now minting millions through Sacco’s established by the County government as a way of empowering the youth through wealth creation.
In their Annual General Meeting held at Kee and graced by Governor Kivutha Kibwana today, the 30 Saccos reported a KES 20 Million savings, with KES 5.6 realised from motorbikes given to the Saccos as seed capital by the County government.
Kisayani Boda Boda Sacco, one of such groups has now, through its savings, acquired a water bowser to suplly clean water, demonstrating the immense wealth creation potential in these Sacco’s.
The county Governmnt has facilitated training and licensing of over 5,000 boda boda operators with a view to promoting safety and improving livelihoods.
