Mwingi Central OCS Abichi Matthew has cautioned area parents and guardians against letting their children loiter on the streets of Mwingi Town instead of sending them school.
Addressing a public baraza at Musila Gardens, Mr Abichi raised concerns over the ballooning number of street children in the trading centre.
He as well advised parents to take responsibility of their young ones for the betterment of this nation.
“Children are the future of this country and we cannot afford a situation where they get neglected only to end up as street children, hopeless and homeless,” he pointed out.
Notwithstanding, the senior police officer beseeched school heads in the area to help keep kids in class.
He advised them to bear with needy patents especially in this times full of economic difficulties and avoid sending pupils home for fees as doing so would contribute to increased dropouts.
