Youth and Gender Affairs CS Sicily Kariuki has reaffirmed the Jubilee government’s commitment to empower the youth, women and people living with disability in Kitui County.
She was speaking at Kabati, Kitui West, where she launched the Youth Empowerment Programme for the county and issued a Sh6.5 million cheque for the women enterprise fund.
She took the opportunity to drum up support for Uhuruto and urged the people of Kitui West to award the Jubilee government five more years at the helm of Kenya’s leadership.
Ms Kariuki said the administration has without doubt performed outstandingly towards improving lives of Kenyans.
“We have done roads, connected majority Kenyans to electricity, improved the health sector and built the SGR among other flagship project. All we ask for is another term to deliver even more,” she announced.
She said, unlike previous regimes, Jubilee has given precedence to the youth as over Sh24 billion have been disbursed to youth and women groups, through the Youth Enterprise Fund and Affirmative Action Fund programmes, over the last four years alone and more funds are on the way.
She was joined by Kitui Senator and gubernatorial aspirant David Musila and area MP Francis Nyenze.
The two lauded President Kenyatta’s government for the excellent job it has done to uplift young people and women both socially and economically.
They further urged urged Kitui people to elect their leaders based on their respective manifestos as opposed to party affiliations.
“Mtu akiwa mzuri mpe kura awe mwaniaji huru au mwana chama cha kisiasa (If someone proves to be worth your votes just elect them whether independent candidates or not” Nyenze said.
Echoing sentiments of the National Assembly Minority Leader, Musila vowed to ensure the youth in Kitui get 30% of county government procurement opportunities if elected as the next governor.
