Good News Church of Africa (GNCA) Bishop Raphael Nzuki Kituva has come out to condemn MPs fighting the Salary and Remuneration Commission (SRC)’s slashed salary scheme and demanding hefty pay cheques.
Addressing a press conference as the church held its annual convention and music festival at Kisayani Centre in Kibwezi West, the cleric termed the demands for hefty salaries as selfish and typical of greedy leaders.
“They should be ashamed of themselves and be satisfied with whatever amount the salaries commission deems fit for them because the par revision was informed by the need to tame the swelling wage bill?” said the Bishop
He was reacting to remarks by Homa Bay Women Rep Gladys Wanga and Mbita MP Millie Odhiambo on Wednesday who threatened to fight the new pay structure and move a motion in parliament to increase their salaries.
The man of the cloth as well asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to go soft on Chiefs whom he threatened to take unspecified but stern action against for allegedly supporting the National Super Alliance (NASA) ahead of the recent national polls.
The Head of State made poured his anger against the provincial administrators while on his campaign tour of the Opposition stronghold Makueni County.
“Now that he has been re-elected, the president should guarantee the Chiefs that their jobs are safe,” opined the spiritual leader.
