Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has assured the residents that her government be corrupt-free to guarantee impeccable public service delivery.
She vowed that no stone will be left unturned in a bid to rid the county offices of corrupt elements driven by greed at the expenses of serving the mwananchi.
“I want to make it crystal clear that my administration will not tolerate corruption and whoever engages in it must be ready to bear their own cross,” she said.
The county chief reiterated that her administration will be run in a transparent and credible manner.
“Our systems are going to be transparent and we can assure the public that no shred of graft will be tolerated in Kitui,” said Ngilu, as quoted by the Standard newspaper.
Ms Ngilu further urged the residents to report to her any and all cases of corruption they might encounter whether directly or indirectly while seeking services.
“You must speak out whenever asked to give or take bribes in order to receive various services from my government.
“It is your constitutional right to receive government services without having to issues favours to those in offices because they are your servants, not bosses,” she emphasized.
Ngilu regretted that corruption has maimed realization of development in the country and must be fought by all means.
She urged marginalized groups to apply for government tenders, adding that her administration will adhere to the 30 per cent tender rule for women, youth and Persons Living with Disabilities (PLWDs).
