Police in Mwingi are interrogation a 20-year-old man who confessed to killing his 60-year-old dad before dumping the body in a pit latrine.
Peter Musya, from Waita Location in Mwingi Central Constituency, admitted to committing the capital crime some four days ago.
He reportedly turned against his own father and killed him following a suspected family dispute.
The deceased, Isaac Musya Makola, went missing four days ago and nobody seemed to know his whereabouts, according to the area Chief Lawrence Mwangangi.
The police had vainly tried to trace the old man in conjunction with the locals.
But Mwangangi said things begun to add up after the son was cornered by neighbours selling his father’s goats at Kamuwongo market.
When questioned about where he got the goats, Musya lied that his missing father had given them to him.
The claims roused suspicion in the residents who “arrested” the suspect and informed the Chief who accompanied them to mzee Makola’s home.”
However, on arrival, they realized the suspect’s father was still missing.
They sensed that he was lying and promptly called the police who managed to get him confess his role in his father’s death.
He revealed that he had killed his father and dumped the body in a pit latrine within their compound so as to cover up the murder.
The police then retrieved the body with the help of neighbours before taking it to Mwingi Level Four Hospital’s mortuary.
Musya is being held alongside two others suspected to be his accomplices as CID officers conduct further probe into the murder.
The shocking incident comes has just a day after another body, identified as that of 78-year-old granny, who has been missing since September 23rd ,was found dumped in an abandoned well in Nguni area within the same Constituency.
