It was all mourning on Saturday 7th October at Tseikuru in Mwingi North Sub County during the sendoff ceremony of 5 people who lost lives in the tragic road accident near Tseikuru airstrip.
The general prayer mass attracted different leaders from the three Ukambani Counties among them Former Vice President Dr. Kalonzo Musyoka, Makueni Governor Prof. Kivutha Kibwana, Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu , Deputy Governor Dr Wathe, Kitui Senator Hon Enoch Kiio, area MP Engineer Paul Nzengu, Kathiani MP Hon. Robert Mbui and Women Rep Dr. Kasalu.
Addressing mourners at the ceremony, the Former Vice President expressed sympathy towards the tragic loss of lives in the road accident late September 2017.
Kalonzo called for unity of all leaders towards lobbying for development in Ukambani. He expressed dissatisfaction on what he termed as continued marginalization of the region by Jubilee government.
Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu expressed concerns on the rising trend of accidents leading to loss of lives in the area and urged road users to be careful in daily road engagements.
Ngilu urged the residents to support the NASA coalition in the upcoming October 26th election.
Kathiani MP Hon. Robert Mbui, Dr. Kasalu and Mwingi North MP Eng. Paul Nzengu called on the larger Ukambani region to turn out in large numbers and support the Raila-Kalonzo coalition in the Presidential repeat election scheduled for October 26th if the coalition’s irreducible minimums are met.
Ngilu later joined mourners in Nguni ward of Mwingi Central Sub County where she reiterated that her administration is key in implementing policies that will see mothers benefit comprehensively from the possible subsidies in the county health sector.
