Machakos county Governor Alfred Mutua, on Thursday 2nd November, said that his government had reinstated 204 employees who had initially been placed on suspended in the Finance Department.
Speaking in Machakos County during the release of the audit report that had forced the workers’ suspension, the governor otherwise stated that 137 workers had been found culpable were in the meantime suspended awaiting further action which could as well be sacking.
Mutua further said that a number of County workers found to have committed illegalities will be charged in court where they will answer to respective criminal charges.
This comes in the wake of the Governor having recently called for an audit in August, following massive complaints of graft and ineptitude in the Finance Department by residents of the county.
“All the workers reinstated will report to the Machakos Social Hall on Monday for redeployment as the department is being reorganised to improve efficiency, especially in revenue collection and accountability,” Dr Mutua said.
