Tangawizi elected chair of CAF’s Majority Leaders’ Chapter

Kitui County Assembly Majority Leader Peter Kilonzo (Tangawizi) has been elected chairman of the County Assemblies Forum (CAF)’s Majority Leaders Chapter.

Hon. Kilonzo, who is also the MCA for Athi Ward, emerged winner in elections held on Tuesday at Laico Regency Hotel in Nairobi.

Kenneth Onyango from Kisumu was elected to the deputy whereas Gathungu Kamau (Nyandarua) and Hezron Ng’etich (Kericho) were elected Secretary and Organizing Secretary respectfully.

County Assemblies Forum comprises of all house Speakers and over 2,000 MCAs from the 47 counties.

Each County Assembly then elects two of its members to join the Speaker who is normally an automatic member to form a 141-member Governing Council (GC).

The GC consequently elects a 20-member Executive team.

CAF has five chapters namely including that of the Speakers, Deputy Speakers, Majority Leaders, Minority Leaders and the Women caucus.

The County Assembly’s Deputy Speaker Emeritus Kasee Musya (Kisasi Ward) today joined his counterparts from across the country at Laico Regency Hotel for the election of CAF’s Deputy Speakers caucus leadership.

The forum’s mandate is not to enrich MCA’s but to strengthen the role of County Assemblies in public service delivery.
