Governor Ngilu defends her victory in court

Kitui county governor Charity Ngilu defended her election to the county boss’ post at the Nairobi’s Milimani law courts after former governor Dr. Julius Malombe moved to the judiciary petitioning against her victory.

Speaking on Thursday during the hearing, Ngilu’s lawyer Kioko Kilukumi dismissed allegations presented before the court by Dr. Malombe, saying that there were no illegalities in the whole process of electing and installing Ngilu as governor.

Malombe in his petition which cited the incumbent governor as the first respondent alleged that the August 8th polls of 2017  had been marred with massive illegalities including voter bribery and violence. He further stated that some of his agents were denied entry in a number of polling stations and that the whole process was neither fair nor credible.
