Masavi and Ukasi girls schools in mwingi, Kitui county have been placed on the spotlight as parents in the school seek government help in acquiring transfer letters for their children.
The embittered parents have strongly come up in arms against the schools’ management and now request the government, through the education ministry, to intervene after their school heads refused to give them transfer letters.
” After my daughter sat her std 8 exams, I took her to precious blood school. There however arose issues at the school from which we were advised to take our children to Masavi with a promise of returning them to precious when things smoothened out. I went to the school the other day requesting for a transfer letter for my daughter back to her original school but the heads declined issuing the letter to us.” Lamented an emotional mother of one of Masavi’s students.
The parents cited poor performance by the schools in question and unaffordable school fees as main reasons for demanding the transfer of their children to other schools.
“We were at the school as early as 8am. Some of us even spent the night at the nearing market just waiting for the principal to sign the letters for us; which was never done.” Cried yet another parent.
