The Mwingi Central constituency member of Parliament, Gideon Mulyungi had written to the ministry of education requesting for immediate staffing of Nuu Vocational Polytechnic.
In a letter dated January 11, and addressed to the Cabinet Secretary for Education Dr. Fred Matiang’i, the Mp asked the ministry to kindly facilitate deployment to the defunct institution.
“The Polytechnic located in Nuu town, Mwingi East district was completed in 2016 and officially opened in 2017 by the president of the Republic of Kenya. Unfortunately, the Polytechnic has not been operating since it has no staff and students have not been admitted…”Read the letter.
The Vocational institution has been voted to improve the lifestyle of the residents of Kitui through the provision of Higher education learning in the county.
It is also expected to aid in a absorbing post-high school students who do not make the cut to universities and give them an avenue to learn vocational skills.
