Mwingi, 17th Feb 2018: Mwingi central Member of Parliament, Dr. Gideon Mulyungi has termed sand as one key resource that if well exploited, can be very beneficial to Mwingi residents.
Speaking to the press today at his residential home at Kalisasi, Mwingi central constituency, Dr. Mulyungi has urged the county government to issue residents with licences so that they can be able to sell sand.
“It would be very satisfying if the county government issues licences to mwingi residents most specifically those affected by sand harvesting to be selling it.” the Mp pointed out
“The sand can be packed in sacks resembling those of cement and be taken to market for the purpose of selling” He added
The legislator emphasized that through sand trading, most living standards can be improved
“Most of buildings in Nairobi are constructed using our sand. If the county government seconds our idea, then the kamba community will positively progress.‘ Dr. Mulyungi added
Addressing the trending issue on charcoal burning in Kitui county, Honourable Gideon has said that he does not support burning down of people’s lorries but these people should leave our tress to us.
People near water sources have been called upon to plant tress so that the ecosystem can be protected and reduce the chances of Mwingi becoming a desert.
“We have passed a motion in Parliament that both primary and secondary schools should plant 1000 tress each, issued by the national government” he said.
