Decline your Nomination as the new Senate Minority Leader, Kalonzo urges Senator Orengo.

James Orengo , Siaya Senator

Following the ejection of Bungoma County Senator Hon. Moses Wetangula as the Leader of Minority Alliance in the Senate early today Tuesday 20th March,2018,the NASA Co-Principal Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka has cautioned the Siaya Senator Hon. James Orengo against assuming his new role as the Senate Minority Leader.

Musyoka said that if Senator Orengo accepts the new role in Senate,he might be later blamed as the one who fueled the collapse and disintegration of of the opposition National Super Alliance (NASA) an action which may have negative impacts to his political career.

Following the meeting that brought together the Opposition Chief Raila Odinga and the President H.E Uhuru Kenyatta early this month at his offices head-quartered at Harambee House in Nairobi, the unity of NASA Alliance began deteriorating. The Co-Pricipals led by Wiper Democratic Movement Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka,ANC’s leader Hon. Musalia Mudavadi and FORD-Kenya party leader who doubled as the Senate Minority Leader Moses Wetangula complained that they were not earlier informed about the likelihood  of there being a meeting between the two National Leaders.

While addressing the Journalists today in the morning ,Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka said that they had earlier instructed the NASA Alliance CEO Norman Magaya to write a letter to the Senater Speaker Hon. Ken Lusaka confirming to him that Senator Moses Wetangula still holds position as the duly and lawfully nominated Senate Minority Leader.

Earlier last week, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Senators wrote a letter to the Speaker Hon. Ken Lusaka, the former Bungoma County Governor, seeking replacement of Moses Wetangula with Siaya Senator James Aggrey Orengo. This move by 22 ODM Senators agitated the fellow Senators from the NASA affiliated parties who termed and perceived the move as selfish since the ODM Party which is headed by NASA Chief Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga enjoys the lion’s share of elected legislators within Opposition Alliance.

I dont want James Orengo to be the one to go down in history as the one who collapsed NASA.My appeal to him is that he should decline his nomination,” Hon. Kalonzo said.

The former Vice President Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka added that the NASA Principals led by Raila Odinga were not in support of the move taken by a section of opposition Senators seeking the removal of Senate Minority Leader Hon. Moses Masika Wetangula.

Earlier today,Moses Wetangula was ousted as Minority Senate Leader by Senators from within NASA Alliance. Majority of these Opppsition Senators are perceived to be ftom Orange Party led by the former PM Raila Odinga. Senator James Orengo was nominated as the new Leader of Minority Alliance in the Senate deputised by the Kakamega County Senator Hon. Cleopha Malala.
