Early 2016, the then Kitui county senator David Musila launched a family foundation dubbed ‘David Musila Foundation’. The aim of the foundation was to sponsor a batch of 50 needy university students from Kitui county admitted in public universities.

The foundation called for applications from 2014 KCSE candidates and selected 52 candidates who fitted their qualifications. Two years down the line the foundation has been paying tution fees for the beneficiaries in good time.

However, in the second semester of the 2017/2018 academic year things have not been good as usual. Its now 10 weeks since the semester started and the examinations in most universities are just around the corner yet the foundation has not yet disbursed fees into the various university accounts.

Speaking to, one of the beneficiaries of the foundation, who sought animosity for fear of victimisation, from a public university in the south rift region expressed his fears of missing his end of semester examination, which is set to begin in two weeks time.

Our sponsors have not disbursed fees into our accounts yet, and am worried I may miss my end of semester examination if there is no quick action. In past semesters, the disbursement has always been done at the beginning of the semester but the delay this round is alarming,” said the student.

He also added that he checks on his fee status on a daily basis just hoping that he will find the balance settled, not forgetting to mention that he also prays to God to give him breakthrough.

My parents are poor and they struggle too much to cater for my meals and accommodation, so obviously they can’t afford to pay for my fees. I always pray to God to give me a breakthrough, hoping that Musila Foundation will pay the fee balance now and in future and enable me complete my studies,” concluded the gentleman.

We here at are calling upon the founders and admins of Musila foundation to step up and clear the balances for these humble souls as promised during the launch that they would offer the sponsorship for four years.
