Nairobi multi-billionaire Peter Muthoka has landed into trouble after the Auditor General Dr. Edward Ouko released the annual audit of the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) a report that revealed that the above business tycoon secured his bank loan of 501Million using the leased land section at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at Embakasi in Nairobi City County.
Muthoka who acted at President Kenyatta’s chief campaigner and strategist in vote-rich Ukambani region during the past general elections is said to have illegally used the leased property in his acquisition of bank loan from the Standard Chartered Bank of Kenya.
This information came out after the Auditor General Dr. Edward Ouko released the annual budget of the KAA.
The Parliamentary Investigations Commission(PIC) under the Chairmanship of Hon. Abdulswamad Nassir met the Managing Director Jonny Anderson to explain further how the 20 year lease of the JKIA land section by Transglobal Logistic firm owned by Muthoka got extended .
“I am not in a position to explain if the extension of the lease was provided by the Board or not,” Jonny told the PIC committee.
The Director faced hard time when he was requested by the Commitee to name the person who approved the extension of lease term for 2 consecutive terms each of 20 years after the lapse of the initial 20 years lease.Further, the Chair demanded to know those behind the extension of the lease term to current 60 year lease by Transglobal Logistic firm.
Also before the PIC was the Secretary of KAA Mrs. Katherine Kisila who responded to the committee that they can give the name of the commitee and Director who approved the 20 year lease to Muthoka’s Transglobal firm.
The PIC Committee shall soon be summoning the CS National Treasury Hon. Henry Rotich,National Lands Commision Chair as well as the Standard Chartered Bank Board of Management to explain how the Trabsglobal firm got I.R number that it used in loan securing without the authority by the National Treasury.
