Mwingi business community has apologised to Governor Charity Ngilu after boisterous youths impeded her meeting in the town two weeks ago.
They criticised Mwingi Central MP Gideon Mulyungi for hiring the goons to insult the governor at Musila gardens.
Ngilu had gone to launch bodaboda training centre but was forced to cancel the event after it turned disarray.
Mulyungi has affirmed to unseat Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu in 2022.
Recently he described Ngilu as “a chameleon for associating herself with people who supported Jubilee in the election”.
The business community led by Mwingi Central MCA Mary Kanini Philip and their patron Muinde Mutuka said it was wrong for the locals to chase away their Governor who was on a development tour.
“There is no way you can pay less than 100 youths to come and disturb more than 11,000 residents of Mwingi. You cannot be our obstacles to developments. Ngilu is the topmost leader of the County and she is not supposed to beg for permission from anybody to visit any area in the County,” Kanini said.
Joseph Kongo, the chair of Mwingi business community urged residents to join hands and work together.
“If we push the Governor away, it’s to our own disadvantage, let’s cooperate and work together because she has the interest to develop this town.” he added.
