Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader Dr.
Alfred Mutua has embarked on the fulfilment of his manifesto by rolling out a free college and university scholarship program on Monday April, 16.
While addressing residents of Machakos county at Athi River Youth Polytechnic, the governor said that the scholarship program will be allocated an annual sum of Sh300 million and will have a consistent number of 10,000.
“My plan is to transform Machakos to be the richest and the most equitable region in Kenya and Africa. Enabling a large number of our youth to have professional qualifications is an ingredient of spurring actual social-economic transformation. This scholarship program converts words to actions,” Mutua added.
The governor further noted that his vision is to create a county where every individual is entitled to the right of education regardless of their an family background, financial status or any other hindrances there might be.
“I dropped out of school at form two due to lack of school fees but later a church elder came to my rescue. Now I am doing the same for thousands of Machakos youth…We have already employed over 1,200 ECD teachers and will hire 800 more in coming months,” Mutua said.
