Kitui East MP blames NASA for IEBC commissioners’ woes

The Kitui East Member of Parliament, Nimrod Mbai has a cussed the opposition,NASA, of being behind the ongoing woes among commissioners of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

While speaking in an interview on Radio Citizen on Wednesday, Mbai the alleged that a section of NASA politicians (Unnamed), who lost in the last general election had, embarked on a destruction campaign to get back at the Wafula Chebukati led IEBC.

“The IEBC is being fought by some losers who failed in the concluded elections who are bitter and are now out for revenge. They are the ones spearheading the ongoing disagreements and collapse of the commission,” the lawmaker said.

He further noted that the unnamed politicians are using underhand methods to cause a collision within the IEBC; adding that the scheme is seemingly working perfectly up till now.

“They are the same people who have always cried foul after every general election have always managed to force for the reconstitution of the commission and are again out for a repeat of the same,” He added.

The IEBC was let on the spotlight after chairperson Wafula Chebukati sent the commission’s CEO, Ezra Chiloba on a three-month compulsory leave, a move that prompted the resignation of three of its commissioners citing poor leadership by the chair.
A number of politicians have since demanded that the remaining trio led by Chebukati should follow suit and resign to pace way to new leadership at IEBC.
