Former president Mwai kibaki and leader of opposition Raila Odinga are meeting in Muthaiga,Nairobi and will give a statement around 1pm
Though not clear what they will be discussing but following a close source to the opposition leader, Odinga would brief retired president on his new unity with president Kenyatta.
“It is about the handshake, a lot is going on and he wants to brief mzee Kibaki as much,”Said a source close to the opposition leader.
Raila has had meetings with leaders and its only a week ago since he had a meeting with the former president Daniel Arap Moi in his Kabarak home, Nakuru. They discussed the current state of the nation as well as the coming 2022 elections.
Earlier Friday, Raila hosted Nairobi governor Mike Sonko at his Capitol Hill offices.
These meetings came up after Raila’s handshake with the president Uhuru Kenyatta on March 9 at harambee house.
Raila and Uhuru agreed to unite after the lengthy and chaotic 2017 elections.
The engagement between Raila and Uhuru and the meeting with moi on April 12 is turning the political landscape. The country is now in the campaign mode way too soon.
There’s a suspected political deal among Kenyatta,Moi and Odinga’s families and would be a great force in 2022 elections.
Since Uhuru will be exiting state house and Raila has indicated he might not run for state house,politicians are trying to sense the way forward and positioning themselves as the next potential leaders.
