Business people from Yatta in Machakos County have been enticed to employ security men to safeguard their shops at night so as to minimize theft occasions.
Edward Changach,Yatta police boss made the announcement on 20,April,2018 who said burglars break in the sub county shops at night due to rainy season advantage.
“The rains are heavy and sometimes cause blackouts, no one would here noise so the burglars have no need to worry. That’s why traders should employ watchmen,” Altered Yatta Police boss.
Changach was talking about few cases of night robbers in Yatta, more so in Yatta shopping centre and market lately.
The police boss added that several cases of shops damaged had been reported in the sub county since the beginning of the rains.
He said the security officers had chosen night patrols to ensure security.
“The police will play their part and so should you, security begins with you as former minister for security would say,” Changach said.
Changach was confronting the worried traders due to rise of insecurity after finding their stolen goods from their shops and on addition their counters void.
Julius Ndawa,Matuu MCA, had questioned the OCPD and his team to pull up their socks in curbing insecurity in the area.
“If they can’t provide security for us, they should leave the job and let those who can take over,”said Ndawa.
Matuu MCA also said that no suspect had been caught by the officers even after many cases of burglary in the Sub County.
