Machakos accidents on the rise, 15 dead in one day

Accidents in Machakos county are on the rise with at least Fifteen people having died in separate road accidents that occurred early Sunday morning.

Separate accidents in Machakos and Kinangop, Nyandarua County claimed the loves of eight and seven people respectively while a number of Gor Mahia fans were also reported dead at Mulolongo.

In the Machakos accident that occurred at Mwambi area on the Mombasa-Nairobi highway, 8 people passed on while several others escaped with injuries after a matatu they were travelling in crashed into a stalled lorry. Six of the eight died in the spot while two succumbed to injuries while receiving treatment at Machakos Level five hospital.

The incidence was confirmed by the Machakos OCPD, Joseph Tenai, who noted that the Matatu driver was on the offense,having lost control of the vehicle and collided into the lorry.

In another grisly accident in Githabai, Kinangop, seven people, four male and three female, died after a Probox they were travelling in was swept away by floods following heavy rains.
The bodies of the deceased in the two occasions were moved to Machakos Hospital mortuary and Naivasha Sub-County Hospital mortuary respectively.

In yet other sad news, at least three Gor Mahia fans were confirmed dead on the spot while several others sustained injuries following a grisly road accident at Mlolongo area along the Nairobi-Mombasa highway. The fans were travelling to Machakos to watch the clash between Gor Mahia and Thika United when the unfortunate happened.
