Kitui County Diocese games kicked off early today Friday 27th April 2018 at Katheka primary school grounds in Kitui West constituency a competition that has brought together all the county Catholic youths from each Parish within the Catholic Diocese of Kitui.
The youth county sports competition event has been organized by the Diocese leadership of Kitui under the leadership of the acting Bishop Anthony Muheria who doubles as the Archbishop of Nyeri Archdiocese.During that youth competition, several sporting activities including football,volleyball, handball and tennis are expected to be competed for.
The event was expected to be graced by the incumbent Kitui Governor H.E Charity Kaluki Ngilu as the chief guest in conjunction with other Senior County officials from the Department of Sports and Games.However, Ms. Ngilu could not make it to the function due to commitment to the county affairs.
Governor Ngilu is represented at the function by the CEC Sports and Games Hon. Koki Musau Kuvasila.Also present are Millitonic Kitute Kimanzi and Kitui National Youth Council (NYC) Chair Aggrey Nzomo and Adamson Mutavania among other youth leaders from Kitui.
This sports event is expected to unite the Diocese youths together and cultivate a healty relationship among them as a christian family in an attempt to ensure peaceful coexistence.In addition to that,the nurturing of the youths to the various useful talents that might translate to their better means of livelihood in future.
Shaping of the youths morality in Christianity is also a key goal of the youths’ games activities. Due to lack of key role models in the modern society to set an example is also a blow to ensuring good behaviour is instilled to the youths.
At the end of this function, the youth’s integration shall be enhanced through their engagement to the various sporting activities.Boosting of their health and mental refreshing shall also be achieved at the end of the Diocese games.
