A technical team has been put in place by the Machakos county governor Dr Alfred Mutua, tasked with overseeing the upgrading of Mlolongo into a vibrant environment, both residential and business wise.
Speaking during a meeting attended at his office in Machakos town on Thursday, the county boss said that efforts to transform Mlolongo into a vibrant business and residential hub were in adherence with the county’s development plan to transform all urban centers within the county’s jurisdiction into vibrant business hubs.
The county’s Engineers and planners, who were in attendance, were directed to embark on ensuring that Mlolongo’s drainage and stormwater systems are repaired and new street lights erected in achieving the same goal.
“The roads will be rehabilitated and street lights erected on back streets to enhance security in the 24 – hour economy business urban centre,” the Governor said.
The county boss further announced that another special team will be constituted to design master and public works plans at Syokimau, Githunguri, Joska and Kinanie in Mavoko sub-county.
“In the meantime, we will soon have teams on the ground undertaking repair works due to the massive impact of the ongoing rains,” He added.
Also attending the meeting was Mlolongo’s MCA Daniel Mbevi. Mutua appointed Eng. Morris Aluanga as the lead expert in the exercise whose completion schedule has been fixed at one month.
