MP Nguna backs CS Matiangi’s proposition

Mwingi west Member of Parliament ,Charles Nguna has seconded Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiangi’s proposition to reducing the level of VIP security details.

Speaking on Tuesday May 9, at Itendeu primary School in his constituency after issuance of development cheques,  Nguna reiterated the CS’s words that some of the government officials are overprotected.

Dr. Fred Matiangi through his official twitter account, said that the security  details will be reduced by 50% by July this year in a tweet dated same Tuesday. He further noted that the officers will be deployed to protect life and property of the ordinary citizens(mwananchi).

“Some government officials like the president,  vice president and cabinet secretaries have so many security details unlike us legislators who only have one security officer. “  Mwingi west MP said.
Nguna added that some areas like Mwingi north,  Wajir, Marsabit among others needed security officers due to insecurity yet some leaders have more than four security officers attached to them.

“We need to protect our common people and their property by deploying  offcers to insecurity prone areas. “ Nguna added.
