Intriguing reports have emerged insinuating that popular comedian Daniel Ndambuki “Churchill” now contemplates cancelling his show this weekend following massive graft allegations.
The comedian has for the past few days come under a fierce attack after residents took to social media accusing him of complacency in the alleged Kitui Rugby 7s Sh. 20 million budget racket.
The onslaught, on Whatsapp, Twitter and several blogs, claims that Churchill was “bribed” with millions of shillings drawn from Kitui County coffers in order to “ice” the controversial rugby tourney slated for June 1st and 2nd, 2018.
Owing to the scathing online onslaught, Churchill might deem it fit to call off the standup comedy show to safeguard his Laugh Industry’s brand image.
Though the County’s Tourism and Sports ministry, headed by Patrick Koki Musau “Kuvasila“, has vehemently disowned the Sh. 20M budget, it still remains a mystery how much public funds the administration has pumped into the sporting event.
“We actually don’t have a budget for the event but we are getting overwhelming support from our sponsors. The so-called Sh. 20 million budget doing rounds on social media is a total hoax. We urge Kitui people to ignore it,” says Kuvasila.
It is also rumoured that a senior county officer, who is also steering preparation for the rugby competition, will be smiling all the way to the bank since he running the club house at Ithookwe showground.
