What many don’t know about Kitui East MP, Nimrod Mbai

Nimrod Mbai is a vocal MP from the Ukambani region. But do how much do we know about this politician? Here is what you need to know about the Kitui East legislature:

1. He’s 40 years old.

Nimrod Mbithuka Mbai was born on December 22, 1978.

He is a Kenyan politician and the current Member of Parliament for Kitui East Constituency in Kitui county.

Nimrod Mbai who was elected on 8th August on a Jubilee ticket won after garnering a total of 14,256 votes against his closest competitor Miltonic Mwendwa Kitute who garnered 10, 899 on a NARC ticket.

The then incumbent Member of Parliament, Major (Rtd) Mutua Muluvi was fourth with 5, 436 votes.

2. He’s an ex-police officer.

Nimrod Mbai, an ex-Administration Police officer, also served as a security aide to the late Kitui West Member of Parliament, Francis Nyenze, and Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua when the latter was serving as the government’s spokesperson.

In 2013 after Mbai resigned from the police service, Mutua appointed him to his Machakos Government as CEC for Decentralized Units, Urban areas, and Municipalities.

Mbai also served as Chief Officer for Agriculture and later moved to the governor’s office.

3. Made inflammatory statement over rape remarks on Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu.

Late last year, Mbai caused controversy for his rape remarks against Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu support for poll boycott called by the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Nimrod Mbai’s remarks about Governor Charity Ngilu that landed him in trouble.

He later apologized to Ngilu following public outcry and pressure from women’s rights group, FIDA Kenya.
