The governor further said that Wavinya’s persistenve in the push for electoral justice had finally paid off with the I omit win against Mutua, who is a force to reckon with.
“Wavinya Ndeti’s persistence has paid her and all people who believe in electoral justice,” Ngilu said.
Last week on Friday, the Court of Appeal nullified Governor Mutua’s win and ordered the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to conduct a fresh election in Machakos county free from any anomalies.
The IEBC County returning officer for Machakos was faulted for using an excel spreadsheet to record results instead of Form 37A which is the legal document to bear the results.
The court further uncovered that a number of county officials were directly and indirectly involved in the election process, with one of them being an agent of Dr. Alfred Mutua.
Mutua, who was absolved by the court of the blame or responsibility for the anomalies, brushed off his dethroning, saying that it is a small huddle for him.
The Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader however, appealed the court of appeal’s ruling in the Supreme Court and insists that he remains governor in wait for the Supreme Court’s final say on the matter.
Wavinya Ndeti, On the other hand has been asking her supporters and the people of Machakos county to prepare for a by-election as she believes that the fight against Mutua ends on the ballot.
