Witchcraft Degree Program introduced in Zambian University

A Zambian university has been granted permission  to offer a degree program in witchcraft by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

At least 20 interested students will be admitted to the University of Zambia in the first intake this year and are expected to safeguard the country’s heritage upon completion.

Part of the newly introduced course will extensively cover intangible culture heritage which comprises witchcraft, social practices such as expression through music, Knowledge, skills-as well as the instruments, objects, artifacts and rituals.

Speaking during the lecturer’s orientation forum on Tuesday, June 12th,2018 , Zambia National Commission for UNESCO Secretary General Charles Ndakala noted the continued abandonment of most African cultural values and practices and termed it a big threat to the very fabric of traditions.

Later on Thursday, June 14, 2018 ,Government Spokesperson Dora Siliya however denied the fast spreading media reports saying the Zambian government has not allowed such  to be offered.

In November 2017, Higher Education Minister Nkandu Luo urged Zambian Universities to consider research and the study of witchcraft as a science for the benefit of the Southern African state,Zambia.
