Mwingi residents have raised concerns on the pathetic state of Mwingi level iv hospital mortuary asking the county government to move in and sort the menace.
Faith Katunge, a Mwingi central resident who had gone to the morgue to collect a relative’s body told Kitui Online that the facillity eminates a very bad smell that is felt even from outside.
“Some women who had accompanied me could not stomach the odor from the mortuary which saw them vomiting,” Katunge said.
“We need our loved ones to be accorded a better last respect by preserving them using formalin and being stored in freezers, ” Kyalo who had come to collect a body told journalists on Saturday.
The facility lacks window curtains leading to those who have visited the place see bodies from outside through the big windows.
“There should be curtains to deter visitors from seeing other bodies as the show is not appealing, ” a concerned local added
Another failure that makes mourners head home disappointed is the long queues at the mortuary catalysed by very poor services.
“We have been here for the past four hours and we have not been given our body yet,” a customer complained.
“The number of attendants should be increased for quicker services,”he told KO
