Kathungu primary school is a poverty stricken institution within Nguni ward of Mwingi central constituency located few kilometres from Tana river county.
The school which has close to 50 pupils has a lot of challenges starting from the poor state of the infrastructure.
The classes are temporarily put up by use of sticks so the pupils see the other pupils in the next class since there is no mud around the facility thus interfering with their concentration.
According to the school chairlady, the learning center calls for better buildings, water storage tanks, Tsc teachers among other needs to aid the pupils see a better tomorrow.
Mwingi central Mp Dr. Gideon Mulyungi who visited the school on Monday said it is a shame for children within his constituency to learn from such a facility and promised to construct two modern classrooms this year and three others next year.
The legislator added that he will erect a fence around the compound to ensure the pupils’ security is enhanced.
Kitui county government through the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development has also begun the construction of an Ecd class in the school.
