Bodaboda operators in Mwala, Machakos County have been urged to form Saccos and join youth groups in a bid to uplift their businesses.
Speaking when he met bodaboda operators’ leaders in Mwala Sub-county, the Machakos county Department of youth and cultural welfare officer Mr. William Mbithuka asked the operators to form a Sacco which can enable them access loans from the youth funds offered by both the central and county governments.
The youths have either been urged to use the loans well to help boost them financially and to also boost their business.
“You should form Saccos where you save money and later borrow individual loans which attract very low interest rates and take care of your licenses which most of you find strenuous to pay “he said.
Urging the youths not to fear on forming a Sacco, Mbithuka told them that when they form the Sacco they will form their own by-laws which will govern them.
“You go register a Sacco and make by-laws on how you want to run your Sacco because it is your money which you invest there” Mbithuka reiterated.
Mbithuka also affirmed that these Saccos have positively transformed most residents lives especially the youth and therefore bodaboda operators should not be left behind.
“Every bodaboda operator should be registered with a Sacco. It’s very important since it will improve your living standards,” he added.
