Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has hinted on his list of shame which he claims has the names of the suspects of corruption who are involved in maize scandal at the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB).
Speaking on a morning show at a popular radio station, the county boss revealed that the list is made up of powerful figures in both public and private sectors, including parliamentarians, Cabinet Secretaries, and company heads.
“My list has Senators, Cabinet Secretaries and bosses of big companies among others across the nation and I have already handed it over to the relevant authorities for further investigations.” He said
Mutua also promised to fully support President Uhuru Kenyatta on his fight against graft, praising his proposal for lifestyle auditing which is aimed at sending all corrupt state officials packing.
“We cannot allow a few people to import maize and sell it to the NCPB while our local farmers, specifically my farmers in Machakos, have nowhere to take their produce. For this, I support the lifestyle audit to nab people who have ripped from the saga,” he added.
A lifestyle audit team was a week ago selected following the president’s order for a lifestyle audit for all state officers throughout the country.
The team consists of experts from the financial and legal professions.
The team has already proposed that any state officer who cannot account for any money or physical assets will be forced to surrender the same to the government.
Lifestyle audit will be done according to the Public Ethics Officers Act; the Leadership Integrity Act 2012 and the Anti-corruption and Economics Crime Act of 2003
