Matungulu woman dies after attempting to abort

Matungulu constituency ,  Machakos county has dominated headlines once again after a middle-aged woman was found dead on Sunday evening at her rented house in Kalandini village.

The woman is alleged to have undergone a botched abortion exercise and was found lying in a pool of blood after succumbing to over bleeding.

Speaking in affirmative to the incidence, the Kalandini location area chief, Julius Mbai said that a bucket with a foetus stashed in it was found in the deceased’s house.

The area chief said that the body of the woman was discovered by members of the public who notified him immediately.

“I was called and told that a body had been found in one of the rented house in the market”, said Mbai.

Mbai further condemned the act saying that it’s a criminal offense to procure an abortion and urged young  women to desist from such acts or face the rule of law, if they survive the act.

“Young women should desist from conducting abortions once they realise they are pregnant instead pull yourself together and plan for your forthcoming baby”, urged the chief.

The deceased’s body was ferried to the Kangundo mortuary by police officers,  who have already commenced investigations into the matter.
