A middle aged man was on Monday killed by unknown people believed to be bandits in Mandongoi village of Ngomeni ward in Mwingi north sub county.
Kitui County commander of police Antony Kamitu confirmed the killing though not clear whether the man who was looking after his cattle was killed bandits.
“I immediately send my officers who found out that the man was stabbed several times and there was no indication that he was killed by the bandits. There was no tension at all as opposed to when Somali kills a local,” added Kamitu.
Musyoka Kimwele, a resident said the deceased was killed by three Somali men while grazing his animals and if otherwise they should be shown the culprit.
A month ago, Mwingi central MP Gideon Mulyungi warned of impending clash between Kitui County and Tana river after more than 100 camels were spotted in areas of Sosoma and Myuuni.
