Last year as Jubilee nominations knocked, Governor Mike Sonko revealed that he would walk away from the party if he lost in the nominations.
This is after claims that his opponent Peter Kenneth was to be given a direct ticket.
His utterance gave Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka hope that finally Sonko would join hos home party Wiper.
In a local television interview Kalonzo went ahead to claim that if Sonko joins Wiper the party would offer him a direct ticket.
“If Sonko joins Wiper be assured we would give him a direct ticket”, Said Kalonzo.
Kalonzo wanted Sonko to unsit Machakos governor Alfred Mutua who had gone rogue.
However Sonko didn’t heed to Kalonzo’s advise and lucky enough he was able to carry the day during the primaries .
It’s not the first time the Wiper leader tried to woo Sonko to his party as he had done so previously with no success.
In 2015 he asked Sonko to leave Jubilee and join him in Wiper but sonko brushed him off.
Kalonzo was sure Sonko would be the best candidate to deal with Mutua who had become a pain in the neck for Wiper party.
Sonko however had sworn to join the National super alliance if Kalonzo Musyoka would be the flag bearer.
Unfortunately Kalonzo was chosen to be second in command in the coalition.
