Governor Charity Ngilu spent Wednesday August 15th with the county’s religious groups, Catholic Women Association and Mothers Union of Anglican Church of Kenya, Diocese of Kitui at Mbondoni, in Mwingi and ACK Kalimani respectively.Matters pertaining women and youth empowerment dominated the two governor-led forums.She discussed her suggestive measures that if adopted can gear government’s efforts towards actualization of youth, women empowerment.Mama Ngilu hardened attending women to remain firm in spiritual matters to direct their families rightfully.

Ngilu further lobbied for their support towards the forthcoming registration for the County Health Insurance Cover (K – CHIC) scheduled to be launched on 21st August.The Governor told the congregation it was time she realized her dream of a Universal Healthcare for Kitui locals.

“We have the political goodwill backing us, President Kenyatta has picked healthcare in his Big Four Agenda, back then many fought my move but now, am in control and we can have free medical cover for a year, with a subscription fee of a thousand shillings” Ngilu Said.

The county head also encouraged women to organise themselves in Groups, register them as companies and apply for tenders from the County Government of Kitui slated for them.In her bid to empower, Ms. Ngilu said all Kitui County School uniforms will be made in Kitui beginning next year and added that her government had sponsored 120 young people, 3 per Ward who are currently undergoing an advanced training in tailoring.She said Syongila Youth Polytechnic will be a centre for making uniforms and revealed plans to sponsor others for skills development courses in making inner wears, shoes and leather products.
