Makueni governor Kivutha Kibwana has disclosed that his government will work in conjunction with the Civil Society Organisations in the county to ensure unity and development.
Speaking on Thursday at Wote town Kibwana said that the CSO’s play a key role in ensuring good governance where he promised of total cooperation and support from his government.
He observed that the CSO’s will be incorporated in the county development commitee to directly influence and the government in realising real change.
“CSO’s are very important in our society and with meaningful engagements we can meet the needs of our people and ensure a transparent government in ensuring accountability”, Said Kibwana.
He cited that the public participation approach adopted by the county is for ensuring openness and involvement of every stakeholder in terms of service delivery.
He urged the CSO’s to fight for their space and also demand accountability and transparency from county governments.
‘‘In this time of public participation, everyone involved should be brought aboard in abid to forge the way forward”, He said.
Kibwana spoke as he launched the Makueni civil society Network conference at Wote on Thursday.
The function was attended by officials from the county governments as well as representatives from various CSO’s.
The aim of the meeting was to explore issues affecting CSO’s in the county thus identifying gaps and find ways to mend them.
