Over 100 Kitui youths graduated at Nakuru County based college on Friday, August with garment making skills to be utilized at the county’s textile centre, Syongila Textile Factory.The county has availed the knitting necessities, tailoring machines and other requirements at the institution to make it functional soon.The factory is set to be the county’s garment making centre creating employment to the county locals.
A total of 120 students graduated at Trend Links College, Nakuru function presided over by Bahati MP Hon. Kimani Ngunjiri among other invitees.The legislator urged the graduands to effectively utilise their skills to better the industry.He further noted the county government’s commitment towards reviving the textile industry as way of creating jobs to the idling youths as well to their empowerment.
The youth will work towards the realization of Governor Kaluki Ngilu’s vision of manufacturing Kitui school uniforms worth Sh 2B in the county.In her textile revival plan, the Governor intents to ensuring all school uniforms for the county based learning centres are being produced locally in Kitui using the locals skills.
Governor Ngilu has vowed that the county will not spend it’s money outside Kitui
on Goods or services which can be produced locally.The success of Syongila Textile Centre is set to open up the speedy actualization of other governor’s projects including leather tanning factory, honey and beef processing factories.
