A ten year old standard one pupil died on Wednesday night after he was ran over by a lorry in Mwingi town.
The lorry with registration number KBA 985W ran over the boy as the driver was reversing killing the boy on the spot.
According to a eye witness, the Mwingi Primary school pupil was playing hide and seek game with his friends where he hid himself under the stationary lorry and covered himself with a sack.
Unknowingly, the lorry driver started reversing it which was parked outside the owner’s shop commonly known as Burses stores.
Confirming the incident Mwingi police boss John Nyamu called upon all drivers to be checking under their vehicles before they start the engine for some children have tendencies of hiding under vehicles.
Nyamu also added that the body has been taken to Mwingi level 4 hospital mortuary and the driver taken to Mwingi police station together with the lorry.
Mwingi central MCA Mary Philip has condoled with the family of the late and urged drivers to be careful. She said young souls are very precious adding that it’s just last month where 10 pupils lost their lives in road accident.
Mary also condemned the police for taking too long to collect the body.
