President Kenyatta’s latest appointment of members to head and be board members to various statutory boards has drawn many former politicians from Ukambani Region including former Kitui Senator Hon. David Musila who has been appointed the Chairman National Museums of Kenya among others appointed as board members;
Maryangela Kamene Kimwele has been appointed board member to Jomo Kenyatta Foundation, Beth Syengo to Bomas of Kenya, Charles Mulila board member to Kenya Broadcasting Corporation.
Former Mbooni MP Hon. Kisoi Munyao has been appointed board member to Export Processing Zones Authority whereas the former Mwingi North MP Hon. John Mati Munuve will be a board member to SACCO Societies Regulatory Authority, SASRAS.
Also in the appointments list was Moses Banda, the former Kitui Central parliamentary contestant who has been appointed as a board member of Kenya Post Office Savings Bank.
“I thank President Uhuru for the appointment. It’s a great honour to the people of Kitui Central and Ukambani at large. The appointment is in line with my expertise in Banking and Finance. I will support the growth of the bank in order to contribute to Uhuru’s Big Four Agenda,” Banda said on phone conversation.
Moses Banda studied Bachelor of Arts degree in Microfinance and Economic Community Development at Catholic University of East Africa, CUEA in Uganda, MBA holder in Banking and Finance from Moi University and he is currently pursuing a PhD in Entrepreneurship.Banda is also a pioneer member of K-Rep Bank, life member of Kenya Red Cross, member of Micro-finance professionals and serving as Board Director of Susu Microfinance Bank based in Nigeria, West Africa.
He ventured into active politics in 2013 when he vied for Kitui Central parliamentary seat on a Uhuru’s TNA party ticket and again with Jubilee party in 2017 general elections but lost to Hon. Makali Mulu consecutively. He is the current Jubilee party Kitui Central Constituency Chapter Chairman.Over two decades, he has continued to devote her career in the field of development finance through providing consulting and advisory services to various institutions within Sub-Sahara Africa Region.
Hon. Margaret Kenyatta, Hon. Ida Odinga and Former Kitui Women Rep. Hon. Nyiva Mwendwa were honoured with Second Class Order of the Golden Heart, OGH whereas Pro. Maria Nzomo was accorded Second Class Order of the Burning Spear, OBS among others.
