Kitui County residents will for the next one week benefit from free reconstructive surgeries and other healthcare services including correction of cleft lip/pallet to disadvantaged children and adults with severe physical deformities and wounds.

The free medical relief is courtesy of Kalonzo Musyoka Foundation, Burn Society of Kenya, the Wound Care Society of Kenya and the Ministry of Health and was launched on Monday at Mwingi Level 4 Hospital.

Addressing patients in the hospital, former Vice President Kalonzo said unity of leaders was a bold step towards spurring growth in Ukambani adding his unity with President Kenyatta recently was for the good of the country saying he had no political dispute with the country’s leadership.

Speaking in Mwingi Level 4 Hospital during the launch of the one week medical workshop, Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu termed the pact as a big score for the county health sector saying over hundred cases will be corrected.

She lauded the Kalonzo Musyoka Foundation for supporting the program noting the treatment is exceptional citing limited surgical expertise, lack of funds for setting up specialized units and low awareness among the general public in counties.
